Ask Real Beer
January 2000
Is there such a thing as mustard flavored beer? If so who makes it and
where can I get it? Dan Kirby
Beer Dave answers Dan: A number of micros have partnered with some mustard makers to
actually use their beers as a flavoring to the condiment. Sierra Nevada
has been the most successful with this venture. Many home brewers use
anything on the spice rack when designing their recipes. I have had
everything from a spearmint ale to a Fireball Mead so I am sure that
some one has brewed a mustard beer. I know of no commercial version of
this style. So I suggest you enter the world of amateur brewing and brew
your own mustard beer at home. Real Beer Page has volumes of homebrewing advice.
