More Mexican brewers try cans
Dos Equis joins Corona in expanding beyond bottles
, - Mexican brewer and bottler Femsa has become the second Mexican brewer this summer to expand its line of canned beer, making Dos Equis Lager available in cans for the first time and adding another size Tecate can.
Grupo Modelo earlier announced it would begin selling its popular Corona beer in cans in the United States. Previously, Corona, the No. 1 import in the U.S., was available only in bottles. Tecate will now be sold in U.S. stores in 16-oz. cans, while Dos Equis Lager will be available for the first time in 12-oz. cans. Tecate was already available in the smaller-size cans. "Both packagings increase sales possibilities of these brands in places like sports stadiums and beaches," a press release said.
