Big Brew 2004
Brewers around the world set to make 'big beers' on National Homebrew Day
Apr 27, 2004 - Thousands of homebrewers around the world will gather at hundreds of spots around the United States and the world on Saturday (to celebrate National Homebrew Day by - you guessed it - brewing thousands of gallons of beer. Participants will brew from the same recipe and share in a simultaneous toast at noon Central Time.
In 1979, the American Homebrewers Association originally claimed National Homebrew Day to be the first Saturday in May. On May 7, 1988, Congress officially recognized National Homebrew Day. Big Brew began in 1998, with homebrewers meeting at central locations and often brewing special recipes formulated for the day. This year's recipes feature new styles that are being added to the latest addition of the Beer Judge Certification Program style guidelines - Baltic Porter, Imperial IPA, and Irish Red Ale.
