Beer scam
Brewing company warns South African e-mail a hoax
July 20, 2006 - South African Breweries Limited (SAB) has warned that an e-mail circulating in South Africa and promising free beer is a scam, apparently designed to collect e-mail addresses.
The e-mail promises 12 cases of SAB products if it is forwarded to 10 recipients, and then copied to a company SAB had never heard of. "We'd like to warn consumers that this is not a legitimate promotion by the company and SAB never takes part in so-called chain letter activities," SAB - the company which bought US brewing giant Miller and formed SABMiller internationally - stated in company press release. "We'd like to ask consumers to please treat this as a scam and in no way connected to SAB."
