Just inside the wall of the Quebec's vieux-port (old city) at St-Jean street is the old two-story stone building of Fourmi Atomik. Music videos on a silent TV at the bar go unnoticed as patrons surround the pool tables during the day and stage at night. The real attraction of this "alternative" bar is its 100-seat outdoor terrace patio and great view of the nearby city sites. Waves of chain smokers occupy the hand-painted plastic patio furniture, attended to by roving waiters and waitresses who expect a tip immediately after each round of drinks is delivered. The unappreciative order bottled Molson and Sleeman products with "2 for 1 specials", while others request one of the two local draught beers such as the La Barberie Chanvre. Whether for the view of the city or of the native display of tatoos and piercings, Fourmi Atomik should both entertain and quench your thirst. Open 13:00 to 03:00 except in Winter (15:00 to 03:00). Disc Jockeys after 22:00 nightly, with two free Internet stations available.
