In 2001 Bert Grant left a legacy for the whole American craft brewing industry. The beers from Yakima will always have a remembered place in the annals of the American beer revival of the 20th century. The bottled Bert Grant's Perfect Porter is opaque and well-carbonated. Dark malt aromas make first encounter with the tastebuds, followed by chocolaty flavors carried by the medium-bodied brew. A smooth mouthfeel supports a mocha character and a complex flavor balance, with an early hop bitterness later mellowed by a rich, black malt character. A masterful brew worth sampling again.
