What is it?

A world-wide "bulletin-board" system with thousands of "newsgroups."

Some are beer and brewing-related.

They tend to attract a lot of "SPAM."

rec.crafts.brewing

• Discussion of home-brewing and beer topics.
• Tends to be less-focussed than the homebrew digest, and has more beginners.
• Volume is large: 1,000 messages per day, sometimes.
• Using Netscape to read rec.crafts.brewing --->
• For winemakers: rec.crafts.winemaking

alt.beer

• Discussions about beer: appreciating it, drinking it, etc.
• Sometimes sophomoric.
• The alt.beer FAQ has a lot of general information about beer.

rec.food.drink.beer

• Similar to alt.beer. A recent posting on this topic:
