The Most Expensive (and Cheapest) Countries in Europe to Buy Alcoholic Beverages
A new study by the European Commission has substantiated what many have long suspected, the UK is one of the most expensive countries within the EU to buy alcohol.
Data indicates Findland, Ireland, and Sweden ranked as top three for markups on drinks. At the other end of the scale, price levels on alcoholic drinks in 2018 were lowest in Bulgaria and Romania, at 26% below the EU average, followed by Hungary.
Hurricane Dorian Response Efforts by Florida’s Breweries
As Hurricane Dorian approached, production came to a halt for several Florida breweries, many of which filled fermenters with clean drinking water to provide to the community for free before and during the storm. Flying Boat Brewing in St. Petersburg reportedly posted on Facebook to let their community know free drinking water was available. Other announcements came from more than 60 breweries. There was, however, one brewery that went the other direction.
Bilberries for Beer at Welsh Brewery
Hafod brewery is offering beer in exchange for 100 grams of freshly picked bilberries forage from the local moorlands by the public.
Normally the brewery procures the berries from rangers from the Clwydian Range Area but owner Martin Godfrey wanted to “step up production†and so, has called on locals for help.
The brewery says every 100 grams of foraged bilberries will earn the picker a bottle from this year’s batch of Bilberry Brew.
Should Beer Be Political
