Free beer, donuts and more: 12 reasons to get your COVID-19 vaccine
In a bid to get as many people vaccinated as possible, companies and local governments are giving away these freebies.
Not only will your COVID-19 vaccine assist in protecting you from the virus, but it can get you so much free stuff. Companies, organizations and even local governments are offering incentives to those getting their coronavirus vaccines — all you need is to show your vaccine card.
These incentives are especially helpful in urging more and more people to get both doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna shots, as recent data has shown that some people are skipping the second shot. Though the CDC has pointed out mild side effects that most people experience after the second vaccine shot, it still largely does not compare to actually having COVID-19. If having to get two shots is part of the concern, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine works in just one dose.
Aside from brands offering incentives, some employers are also offering a perk, whether it’s paid time off or a cash bonus. Ask your own employer if you aren’t sure if there’s a perk — you might be pleasantly surprised. To take advantage of all these perks on offer, you have to do your part and get vaccinated first. The national beer holiday, hosted by the Brewers Association (BA) – the not-for-profit trade association dedicated to small and independent American craft brewers – encourages beer lovers to visit their local taprooms, brewpubs, and breweries to purchase beer, whether for on-premise enjoyment, to-go, or delivery.

Following a tumultuous year with on-premise sales dropping double digits, this year’s holiday honors the creativity, community, and resiliency of America’s small and independent craft breweries by reminding beer lovers that “local beer is better.” As loyal community supporters, many craft breweries responded quickly to the pandemic by producing hand sanitizer for local first responders and collaborating to raise funds for frontline and hospitality workers. Of legal drinking age adults in the U.S., 85% live within 10 miles of a brewery, and craft breweries serve as community gathering places and job creators – providing more than 138,000 direct full and part-time jobs in 2020.

Shot and a beer: DC offering walk-up vaccines, beverages at Kennedy Center

D.C. is offering a walk-up vaccine clinic with a free beer afterward.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the event on Tuesday. It’ll be held at The Reach at the Kennedy Center, 2700 F St. NW, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 6.

Participants have to be 21 or older, and the clinic is administering the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Each person who gets the shot will get a free beer from Solace Brewing Company.

The clinic is part of D.C.’s Vaxed for Mom initiative.

URGENT RECALL OF BEERS ISSUED OVER FEARS OF EXPLODING CANS 
Beer drinkers are being warned to check their cans after an urgent recall was issued for one product over fears of ‘exploding’ cans and higher alcohol content than stated due to secondary fermentation.
Cans of Bright Brewery’s Pineapple Dream Nitro Milkshake Ale will be taken off shelves at independent supermarkets across Australia due to concerns that the beer cans may rupture after it was warned that “secondary fermentation” may lead to a higher alcohol content than is stated on the packaging.

Denver’s Iconic Falling Rock Sells Off Vintage Beers to Stay Afloat

Denver’s Falling Rock Tap House is selling off vintage bottles of beer it has collected over the years to generate revenue to stay in business.
“What we’ve sold so far will give us at least six more weeks of life and if we can sell the whole collection off, that’ll probably give us closer to four or five months where we can hopefully survive through this thing,” owner Chris Black told Denver’s FOX31 News.

It is very difficult to plan for much of anything these days, let alone a major beer release which draws thousands of visitors from all over the world to our 2 breweries in Sonoma County.

Yakima Chief Hops (YCH), a 100% farmer owned global hop supplier, has announced the release of their 4th Annual Pink Boots Blend alongside Pink Boots Society, an international non-profit supporting women in beer as well as fermentable and alcoholic beverages.

Since 2017, Yakima Chief Hops and Pink Boots Society (PBS) have partnered to create an annual hop blend that empowers women in the brewing profession. The Pink Boots Blend is available to commercial and home brewers and a portion of the proceeds benefit the PBS scholarship funds.

Janesville winter beer bash out $20,000 from ticket vendor

JANESVILLE, Wis. — Organizers of a Wisconsin winter beer festival known as FlannelFest have filed complaints in two states against an online ticket vendor for failing to turn over money from ticket sales.
The chamber of commerce group in Janesville said third-party vendor Brown Paper Tickets owes $20,000 for online tickets sales to the festival held earlier this year.
John Fugate, board president of Downtown Janesville Inc., said complaints have been filed with the Wisconsin attorney general and the attorney general in Washington state, where Brown Paper Tickets operates.

Oregon Small & Independent Craft Brewers Urge Participation in National Day of Action

Passage of Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act before year-end expiration vital to small business health
On September 9th, leaders in the beverage alcohol sector are urging industry advocates across the U.S. to participate in a national Day of Action by asking their members of Congress to pass the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act, S.362/H.R. 1175 (CBMTRA).
Unless Congress acts, on December 31, 2020, the current Federal Excise Tax (FET) rates for small and independent breweries in Oregon and across the nation will expire. If not made permanent, the FET will increase by as much as 100%.
