Another week of negotiations between Latrobe Brewing’s union employees and LaCrosse, Wis.-based City Brewing began yesterday in Greensburg, Pa.
Although progress has been reported a July 31 deadline looms, when the plant where Rolling Rock was brewed (remember, Anheuser-Busch bought the brand and is moving production to New Jersey) will close.
AB needs a reminder that their’s is not the only “family” and “tradition” that is important. Each greedy or bottom line driven decision of this nature, contributes to the ungluing and undoing of the individuals, families and townships involved, not only in Latrobe but throughout this country. If AB does ultimately close the plant and fails to make provisions for the families involved, I for one will no longer support any product produced by AB and will encourage others to do likewise.
Let it be known far and wide. Anheuser-Busch killed Rolling Rock. Beer drinkers are loyal. It is said that most beer drinkers find “their” brand by the age of 25. I found my Rolling Rock on my 21st birthday. I have enjoyed it ever since.
I wish nothing but ill for this endeavor. A-B may think they’re #1, but they cannot replace #33. Boycott Jersey sewer water!
