Boston Beer makes donation on behalf of Ravens' Sam Adams
Feb 20, 2001 - Boston Beer Co., brewer of Samuel Adams beer, has made a donation of $5,000 to Northwest PAL Football Organization on behalf of Sam Adams, the defensive tackle and pro bowl lineman for the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens.
Though Adams is not a beer drinker himself, he agreed to participate in the donation and check presentation because he saw it as an opportunity to help children and teens of the Northwest PAL Football Organization. Father of two, Adams recognizes the importance of community activities for young people, and was excited that Sam Adams beer gave him the opportunity to give something back to the community of Baltimore. Boston Beer donated the check to PAL at the Towanda Recreational Center in Baltimore, Md. "The donation from Sam Adams is a tribute to my performance at yesterday's game and a way to encourage young people to excel at football or the sport of their choice," said Sam Adams, the football player. "I am extremely thankful to Sam Adams beer for stepping up to give me the chance to give back to the young people of Baltimore." Sarah Fiocco, sales representative at the Boston Beer Co., said: "We are always looking for opportunities to associate our brand with world class personalities such as Sam Adams. Sam Adams should be recognized for both his outstanding athletic performance this season and of course his memorable and prestigious name."
