World Cup finalists announced
139 breweries from 15 countries will be honored in June
Apr 15, 2002 - Breweries from 15 countries will be honored June 12 when the World Cup 2002 winners are announced in Aspen, Colo. Judges from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, England, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States picked winners in 70 categories during two days of judging last week in Cleveland, Ohio.
The 139 breweries invited to the awards ceremony know that they've won a medal, but they don't how many they may have earned nor their place in the finals. The awards begin at 1 p.m. June 12 in the Horel Jerome in Aspen. A dinner binner featuring entrees prepared and paired with award-winning beers is planned for 7-10 p.m., with Brooklyn Brewer's Garrett Oliver offering commentary. Tickets to the events are $225 for the Awards Ceremony and the Gala Dinner, and $95 to attend the Awards Ceremony only. The finalists: Abbaye De Leffe S.A., Leffe, Belgium
