Second Annual Boston Brewers Festival Announced

Mark your calendars. On May 1, the second annual Boston Brewers Festival will be held at the Boston World Trade Center. More than 50 brewers from New England and down the East Coast will be represented, offering over 150 different beers.

Held in two sessions, 1-5 p.m. and 8-12 p.m., a $20, all-inclusive admission fee will provide festival goers with a souvenir tasting glass and the opportunity to sample the products from all of the breweries present. A variety of food items will be available, and entertainment will be provided by four different blues bands, including Boston's 13-year old blues guitar wonder "Monster Mike" Welch.

According to festival organizer Jonathan Tremblay, Director of Operations for the Cambridge Brewing Company, the festival was moved to the World Trade Center from the Park Plaza Castle because of its increased capacity, extensive parking, and access to major highways and public transportation. A shuttle bus from the MBTA Red Line will also be provided to festival goers, he added.

Tremblay also had praise for the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission (ABCC), which had a past reputation for being an obstacle for organizers of large events where alcohol was served.

"I found the ABCC, particularly commissioner Stuart Krusell, to be extremely helpful and open," Tremblay noted. "They wanted to work with us to create a successful and well-run event."

Tickets for the Boston Brewers Festival will be available at the door, and in advance through Ticketmaster.
