Tourist Trolleys Begin Boston Brewpub Tours
Originally Published: 04/96
Boston's Old Town Trolley Tours, a favorite of tourists visiting the Hub, began offering twice-a-month tours of three area brewpubs in February.
Pub crawls using a bus and a designated driver have long been a favorite activity for homebrew clubs and other groups of craft beer fans. Now, it appears, there is enough mass appeal for New England craft brew to offer a similar package to mainstream tourists.
The three-hour tour includes stops at John Harvard's Brew House, Commonwealth Brewing Company, and Brew Moon. At each stop passengers will be served two ten-ounce samples of the brewpub's beers, and food--a main course at John Harvard's and Commonwealth, and dessert at Brew Moon.
Once the tourist season hits full swing in summer, Old Town plans on offering a brewpub tour once a week.
