Commonwealth Brewing Celebrates 10th Anniversary
Originally Published: 12/96
Amidst the popping of camera flashes, the cutting of a keg-shaped cake and congratulatory words from Boston mayor Tom Menino, Commonwealth owner Joe Quattrocchi and his team took a well-deserved bow for their pioneering position as Boston's oldest brewpub.
With a special Anniversary Ale (an ESB) flowing, spirits were high at the Boston brewpub's September 30 celebration. The street in front of the pub was roped off to form a temporary beer garden, which ably handled the overflow of revelers from the crowded interior, where a live band rocked from a kettle-side stage.
As the beautifully mild weather of an early autumn day faded into night, hundreds of Boston beer lovers toasted the end of the outdoor beer drinking season, and a decade of great beer at the Commonwealth Brewing Company.
