The Brewer's Journal is a bound, recipe book-like journal that contains 19 two-page recipe templates for homebrew recordkeeping.

Homebrewers, being the innovators they are, have long collected their brewing recipes and other information for each batch in a variety of ways. Some, like myself, have been content to use a spiral bound or loose leaf notebook, while others design paper forms on their PCs. There are also several top-notch software programs, which have been reviewed in past issues of YBN, that completely computerize the recordkeeping process.

For those of you who want a ready-made brewing journal it's a serviceable alternative. Neither the casual brewers with the scrawled or non-existent notes nor the PC-wielding hard-core zymurgists are likely to switch to The Brewer's Journal any time soon. It does, however, fulfill a need for the brewer who wants to add some organization to his or her recordkeeping at a low cost and with minimal effort.
